our city tour turned out to be a bit of a bust...the cablecar ride to Table Moutain was closed for the day due to Gale force winds on top. so we went toSignal Hill. and very Posh houses that are mainly owned by by foreigners but are in a very old area which was previously occupied by wild animals
i.e. lions etc
Then to our horror we were ushered into a Diamond shop..we were greeted with good Fizz. and Espresso. after an hour of some informative talks..And really no pressure to purchase.
We then drove up and up to hear the Noon Gun..a single loud cannon shot. this is commemorate the fallen soldiers
We then drove to the dock to catch the boat to Robben Island.
We did do a walk along the lovely canals which supply water to the city since the 1700s. It also is where the cenotaph is and some outstanding plaques.
Race by pencil..to know your race the government and therefore what Pass. and what kind of work or where you live Bantu being the lowest class to pale ,one white woman was designated black because her hair supported the pencil. Ans some others that had fine hair were up graded.this garden was tended by the Boer to sell to ships
