Swakopmund. Namibia

sossevlei Driving three hundred klicks through the Namib desert , hot dry dusty..eyes squeaking intheir sockets We arrived h yesterday at noon...icy glasses of sparkling wine greeted us at this  lovely old Hansa Hotel.   Stayed here last time and It is just as lovely as I remember it.    R and I have a large room over looking a terrace and garden.   What we really have is a suite.

We sat down to. lovely lunch...beautiful,cooked Hake in a nice sauce...R had kingklip fish which is a white fish also...it was so nice to be in elegant surroundings, altho tomorrow  we go back to bush camping. 

Four of us went for. two hour plane ride... five seater Cessna...we flew over beautiful sand dunes and rugged low stoney hills and returned up along the beautiful sea coast.   There was another plane near by and we played who can hide from each other ...i.e. we we dived up and down, over and under the other plane...we flew In between high sand dunes and low over seal colonies etc..We all loved it there was a fifth person who came from Lyon France.

For supper we joined another couple for sea food...He has had. Rosemary lying awake at night trying to construct anformula for the following.....add up the numbers from one to ten..then create a formula to cover the problem of adding All the numbers from one to a thousand !

 The next morning we went out for a three hour boat ride. with Captain Billy...an old salt , who told us a lot of i teresting facts. and told a lot of off colour stories.  The first thing that happened...three minutes into the ride a large Fur male seal climbed on to the boat....they are huge seals.  last time I remember being a little frightened as several came at once

thentwo pelicans came on board also.

We sailed out to open water to oyster beds..and were promised some formour on board picnic.

The on to what he called the nursery...must have been thousands of young pups..smelly and noisy

We saw lots of dolphins swimming around our boat...under and up  again and again About ten inthe morning we were offered beer and other liquids.   Finally at eleven,  sparkling wine lots of foody Things while our captain opened oysters at a great rate.

Finally back to our hotel and we spent a great deal of time shopping!!!!

e price of gas is soil is so low that these platforms are waiti gnfor the pricemtomrise..so theyh have let most of the crew go.a skeleton crew is maintaining the platform and Namibia is so cheapnthat theyhaul their platforms to it
