Knysna

jWe once again drove over two passes. magnificent scenery. all over,   We went to a towncalled Wiillderness...Rosemary's Mother and oldest brother were evacuated from Egypt when Rommel looked like he was winning the desert war.  She and other" Women and Children" were flown to Khartoum..which was not a pleasant place, and but only those with a yellow fever certificate of immunization could travel further.   Fortunately her Mother did.  so she flew to Durban, later she heard.  of  this wonderful place where for  3 pound 3 shillings..all found you coukd stay.....Hence we stopped to see it..the hotel was built in
the early part od the century. had been expanded but  burnt fownin '85".  But there were remnants left and photos...Rosemary had coffee there. They have rebuilt.
Later her Mother moved to another area close by to stay with total strangers who took very good care rof her and her two year old and her baby y that arrived.  We visited the house and saw where her Mother stayed...the people who now own it were extremely hospitable and gave us a splendid lunch and showed us around.   They had put together some photos of those early days.
