Les Florets

The Island French Walkers will remember the hotel and restaurant which I raved about a few years ago.  We trudged through damp weather for some miles up and down along cliff sides until we came to the perfect spot to spread some of Henry's ashes.  When we returned for a late noon feast we had good food but not as splendid as I remembered.  One of the dishes which horrified me was the offering of foie gras ice cream... well really.

I am babysitting... now should be called.. child sitting, while C ( your walk leader) and J are on a small vacation staying at Les Florets.. they declared to me in a recent SMS ( that the food was back to its wonderful self.  They had had bouillon with jous de boef stuffed ravioli as a first course then marvellous fish in a wonderful sauce and a tarte tatin.  Thank heavens.  Today they walked 30 kilometres so their  text to me was that they could not wait for dinner.

Such a relief that the funny modern food which was proliferating good restaurants has begun to diminish and real food is back.

the kids and two other children  and I went to see the latest Jungle Book  film.  It is well done but forget Rudyard Kipling  he would not have recognised it.. so as long as you are good with that you can enjoy it.  In stead of animation there is a little boy.. who does quite a good job, the voice overs for the bear, the wolves, the snake and the panther and the tiger are excellent.  But Shere Khan is not a coward in this rendition...

Hopefully James will send me photos of the food so I can share.

  1. Hi Jackie, the new blog looks great, even with it's funny name. At least we won't mix it up with anyone else. Nice photos of France. Sounds like you are doing a great job child minding while Catriona and James away. Very impressive that they walked 30 km. I think the most we did was 25 km. Your itinerary looks very full. That's a lot of time to spend in Africa. Looking forward to hearing about your adventures. Thanks for making this blog. Love and hugs,
